What’s in-season for Winter

Here are some fruits, veggies, and flowers that are in-season right now (try something new this winter!) Smile

Asian Pears

Apples

Bananas

Blood oranges (I’ve not tried these yet)

Cranberries

Kumquats (you eat them…peel & all)

Mandarins

Navel oranges

Grapefruits (I’ve read these are actually at their best in winter)

Pomegranates

Beets (try them roasted…peel, drizzle w/olive oil, sprinkle with salt & pepper, roast in oven at 475 for about 20 min, or until soft)

bok choy

Butternut squash

Delicata squash

Jerusalem artichokes (nope…haven’t tried this one yet)

Leeks

Potatoes

Parsnips

Flowers in season: amaryllis (often go on crazy clearance after Christmas)

                          forsythia (intensely golden flowers)

                          Iceland poppies (never seen one)

Paperwhites (another bulb sold around Christmas)

star of Bethlehem (what? I have to see this….sounds pretty)
